I wrote a post on Monday about a group of lady’s who are over 50, who were inspired by a poem to inject a bit of fun and friendship into their lives.

Realizing how poems can inspire and be an avenue for a creative outlet The Ellenbrook Library and Ellenbrook Secondary College both embraced poetry as part of National Numeracy and Literacy week.

Students made pocket sized scrolls with poetry scrawled on the inside – these ‘Poems In Your Pocket’ were then distributed at the school, library and other places in the community for people to be able to pick up a poem on the go. What a great idea! Another great community initiative in Ellenbrook.

Swan Valley Realty has just listed this little gem in the private estate of Aveley. Built in 2011 on a low maintenance block the home packs a punch with style and design – and space where it counts.

And are you ready for this – all of the quality furniture (except for outdoor setting and master bedroom furniture) you see in the photos below is included in the price. The fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, TV, couches, dining table. This furniture is quality furniture in as new condition. A massive bonus for the lucky new owner of this delightful house. This equates to a saving of thousands of dollars if you had to purchase these for your new home.

This three bedroom, two bathroom home has raised ceilings in the living areas which create a feeling of openness and space. This area opens up to the alfresco which again adds to the sense of space.

As you will notice in the photos below the house is beautifully designed with lovely decor and fittings and fixtures. And remember the gorgeous furniture that compliments the house perfectly is included in the price!

All this across the road from a park in a quiet street in Aveley. Tell your family and friends.

As outlined in a past post there are a variety of events in Ellenbrook and Aveley hosted by community groups and businesses getting into the spirit of Christmas with Pageants, Concerts, Carols, and Arts and Markets. Now the fantastic residents of Ellenbrook and Aveley are putting on their own shows too!

The poster below gives the addresses of the great residents who have put an effort into spreading some Chrissy Cheer around the neighbourhood.

What a great cheap family night out to map out and drive by these wonderful houses. I’m looking forward to showing my children. My own photos to come…

Northlink WA, also known as the Perth Darwin National Highway is on track with its planning. The project development phase of the $1.12 billion highway is expected to be finished in August 2015, highway construction is expected to start in late 2016 and be finished in 2019.

Although some parts of the highway will come as close to 20-30m to some Ellenbrook homes this has been stated as being similar to many other highways around Perth and noise monitoring has started at some sites.

A spokeswoman for Main Roads said noise modelling was required but could not be finalised with certainty until the final road geometry was completed. Future noise modelling may indicate that noise attenuation is required to ensure compliance with the noise level limits of the Western Australian Planning Commission road and rail noise policy. I took my little monsters to Halloween at the Marshalls on Friday night in Aveley and was so impressed with the effort the Marshalls went to to put on a great Halloween event for the community. It is getting so popular we had to wait in a line to go through the haunted tunnel. And scary! My daughter not only screamed but also cried!! For more photos of the night go to their Facebook page at Halloween at the Marshalls.

This is one of our new listings at 4 O’Halloran Street, Ellenbrook. It was completed in May this year and sits in a prime position on the Ellenbrook/The Vines boarder. It is an extremely appealing well designed house that utilizes the compact low maintenance block well with ample indoor living space and also enough room for relaxing or entertaining in the backyard.

Move straight in and enjoy the design and comfort of all the latest fittings and fixtures. My favourite feature is the Essa Stone island bench top with breakfast bar in White Truffle. The ensuite and main bathroom vanity also have Essa Stone tops.

For further information or for a private viewing feel free to give me a call on 0438 080 921. Alternatively check Reiwa or Realestate.com.au for home open time this Sunday

The international German company, which has more than 7000 stores across three continents, revealed Ellenbrook as one of its high priority suburbs for a new store. Although the exact location is yet to be named the store is expected to be completed by 2016.

On it’s website ALDI states it’s mission is to provide you incredibly high quality at impossibly low prices.

An Ellenbrook woman received a death threat in her letter box from a neighbour claiming they would ‘take matters into their own hands’ if her dogs did not stop their continuous barking. The neighbour was caught on camera delivering the note which threatened to kill the dogs if they didn’t stop barking.

The contents of the note was reported to Ellenbrook police. The woman caught on camera was then cautioned by police. The note writer claims the dog owner had taken no notice of written warnings from the City of Swan. The dog owner has stated she did not receive the warnings and that her dogs are good dogs.

City procedures for neighbours to deal with dog complaints can be lengthy. An information pack is provided to the complainant, who can then tick boxes to describe the time and length of the nuisance, after which a letter is sent to the dog owner. If the problem persists, complainants can maintain a logbook, which the City can use to act. The RSPCA encouraged owners to seek training courses if their dog’s barking had become an issue.

Zuhal Kuvan-Mills is the artist, designer and earth ambassador for Green Embassy, Australia’s first internationally recognised organic fashion label. Zuhal loves working with her herd of Alpacas and buys locally organically produced merino wool and organic silk from silk worms in the Swan Valley. She combines these textiles with her organically grown alpaca wool which she spins on site at her home in the Swan Valley.

Local Aveley girl and eco-model for Green Embassy Madi Carroll is off to Paris to strut her stuff for seven days this month on the catwalks. Madi, a year 10 student at Swan Valley Anglican Community School views the opportunity as a once in a life time chance to achieve her dream to be a model.

Little Alex Watson (4) of Ellenbrook needs to find a suitable bone marrow donor to cure him of a rare genetic condition called chronic granulomatos. Alex is the only person in WA with this rare condition that effects his immune system and prevents him from effectively breaking down bacteria and flushing it from his system. Since he was diagnosed with the condition in April last year his parents Shelly and Rob have taken him to the hospital about 150 times.

The good news is that there is a 90% survival rate for people with CGD who get bone marrow transplants from a suitable donor. So Alex’s father Rob is on a mission to find a suitable donor for Alex and others. He has organised a bone marrow donor drive, with a goal to educate and ask suitable donors to register on the day.

Representatives from the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry and a local Elllenbrook bone marrow recipient will speak at the information session to be held at 33 Comserve Loop, Ellenbrook from noon to 4pm on October 26th.

Let’s do what we can to spread this message about a local boy in need of the communities assistance.

Well let’s not get our hopes up too soon. Although WA Premier Colin Barnett has confirmed the State Government will fund a new public swimming pool for Ellenbrook, there is still no time-frame for the project.

An aquatic centre will eventually form part of the leisure centre componenet of the Ellenbrook District Open Space. The City of Swan expects to have a price tag for the aquatic centre by the end of the year, along with the 15 per cent design for the dry area.

I have written previously about how Ellenbrook is the most awarded new town in Australia. This was due to a collaborative approach between town planners, builders, architects and developers from Ellenbrook’s beginning and continues today. In my position as a Real Estate Sales Representative in the area I see evidence of this approach on a daily basis. Beautiful street scapes and well designed gorgeous houses. My new listing at 7 Woodlake Blvd is another testament to Ellenbrooks appeal.

Elevated, lush retained gardens frame the delightfully appealing street view of this home. Inside a light airy spacious feel is created by vaulted ceilings and ample windows encasing the west side of the house. This lovely generously sized three bedroom two bathroom home is on the market for $490,000.

Feel free to call me on 0438 080 921 for further information

The Boutique Travel Cafe in Aveley (the first cafe’ with an integrated travel agency within it’s premises in WA) has just had a liquor licence approved. They now plan to open up for Tapas two or three times a week as of next year.

Currently they are open from 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday, from 8am – 5pm on Saturday and 1.30pm – 5.30pm on Sunday. Apart from the delicious sandwiches, wraps and fresh salads available they now also provide a small range of cooked breakfasts all week and weekend.

I like how they are keeping it local by using coffee supplier Fiori, which roasts it’s coffee in Middle Swan.

Who wants to age gracefully? Not a bunch of Ellenbrook residents who have formed a group called Classy Tarts. The group consists of women over 50 who want to inject a bit of fun and friendship into their lives. They are part of the Red Hat Society that was established in 1998 in the United States and the group’s philosophy is based on a Jenny Joseph’s poem – the opening lines of which read, “When I am an old woman I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn’t go and doesn’t suit me”.

Of course when the group meet for their outings they attend in purple outfits and red hats. Sheryl Olsen who has lived in Ellenbrook for ten years said in that time she hardly made any friends. Now though the group has been a great network for her to meet people.

Sounds like wonderful fun! For more details about Ellenbrook Classy Tarts, call Ms Olsen on 9297 1050
